BLESS THIS HOUSE

Our summer newsletter highlighted the story of Chen, Yanzhu and her mother. In 2006, Chen, Yanzhu’s father died of heart disease. He was the provider for the family. Since then, Chen, Yanzhu and her mother had lived in the old abandoned railroad car that is pictured below. They had no running water or electricity. At times during the harsh winter, they were able to stay with a relative or if her mother had saved enough money they were able to rent a very small house. The house that they were able to afford was not much better than the railroad car in which they lived. Chen, Yanzhu’s mother suffers with a leg disability that prevents her from finding regular employment. She does sell ice cream and toys in the summertime on the street where she makes a small amount of money. The government provides this family with $17.00 USD per month. They are very poor and desperately needed help.

Chen, Yanzhu is a sponsored child, but the sponsorship fee does not provide the funding for a safe, warm place to live. In our summer newsletter we put out a plea to provide an additional sponsor for this child and her mother. We prayed that someone would commit to providing $75.00 a month which would enable Chen, Yanzhu and her mother to move into a safe apartment. Our prayers were answered quickly and today Yanzhu and her mother have a safe, warm apartment to call their own!

This is the abandoned train car where
Chen, Yanzhu and her mother once lived.

In October, our executive director, Erinn Copeland and Liu, Hai Yan(our director in China) visited this family and went to see their new apartment. The happiness and pride on their faces said it all. They were ecstatic to show us their new home. It is so clean, bright and pretty! Chen, Yanzhu and her mother are safe and warm now. What a blessing to them, and God bless the sponsor who was able to answer this desperate request!
