Hong Tu Shan is a village located in a remote mountain area. When the main industry of the village, logging, was prohibited by the government, the unemployment rate reached 90% locally. The families living in this village have begun to suffer from poverty. In order to live, many men in the village have gone to other cities to look for work. Very few of them, however, have sent money back to support their family. The women in this village have had to stay to take care of their children, parents and in-laws.

With no income and no help, we saw no food in their houses. Some of them ate wild celery for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Some of them used corn to fight hunger. The poverty we witnessed in this village was indescribable.

Please consider sponsoring a child from Hong Tu Shan. Sponsorship will provide school tuition, clothing and food for the entire family. If you are unable to sponsor a child perhaps you can make a donation to our Emergency Food Fund. Several times a year we make the 6 hour round trip to Hong Tu Shan to bring food and to visit the already sponsored children. Your donation will feed hungry families!
